  1. There are some foreign manufactured .50 cal rounds that one needs to keep a eye out for and never shoot in a bolt action or shoulder fired semi auto rifle, in a effort to make this sport safer for you we will try to keep up one some rounds to watch out for... Yellow tipped Dominican Republic AP, the case head stamp is "50 (primer) 60" and it has a 3 stake crimp with red sealant. this round has been known to blow up a few actions. More will be added Earthquake
  2. I personally would have to do a "Chamber Cast" to get a good idea of where to start my loads for a rifle I have no data on. EQ
  3. What is your price range, you can get a Super Sniper for as low as about $300 to a US Optics for $6000 + EQ
  4. Here is a link to the manufacture... http://www.50bmg.net/ EQ

  6. Darby I thought you could unscrew the bolt handle on a SH50 to get the bolt out, Is there a hole in the knob or handle to use a screwdriver as a wrench to unscrew it? I'm not tring to be a smart ass, I have never seen a SH up close before. Casey
  7. Morgan711 I have several of there boxes but I like to use the foam insert that I cut down on a table saw[being very careful] so it will fit in a GI fifty cal can, that way you can get long round in with out hitting the lid. if you shoot a Steyr HS 50 [me] or a Armalite you can load the rounds so long they wont fit in the plastic box. Casey
  8. Morgan711 J&J make a fifty round box for the big .50 round, I have several, they are well made. You can also order just the foam core, with a little it will fit in a .50 cal GI ammo can and you can get some long rounds in it. [the only problem with the J&J box] hope this helps. J and J 50 cal ammo box Casey
  9. hey Shadow what if they are blanks with a paper wad instead of star crimp? Casey
  10. Some times if its not to tight you can shove a bore brush in the inside of the case neck and pull it out, just stop half way and the brush will bind up like if you tried to short stroke the bore. Casey
  11. I have used a vibratory tumbler for cleaning APT but do not recommend it, you will have to repaint the tips, I would not use a rock tumbler style tumbler to clean them either. I found that tumbling will loosen up the cores and it wont remove the bullet sealer, I just wipe them down with lacquer thinner, if they are really dirty I well clean them with a scotch bright pad. I have seated hundreds of API and APIT bullets in my LEE die. Earthquake
  12. wvuredneck09 That is the problem with the LEE press, nobody makes dies in 1 1/4" other then LEE all the other dies are 1 1/2". LEE makes a set of collet neck sizing dies, but I'm still on the fence about them, I have a set and the problem with them is they size the neck around a mandrel, but they size at a angle so only the first 3/16" is tight enough to hold the bullet if you try to seat most solids thet have two driving bands there is usauly not enough neck tension to keep the bullet from pushing in to the case. Earthquake
  13. Blaster I would try to anneal 1-2 cases, I have a old spark plug scoket on a piece of all thread that I chuck in a battery drill and spin the case at about 200 rpm while I use a propane torch to heat the neck and shoulder of the case. I stand in a dark corner of my shop and heat the case untill I just start to see a very dull glow, do not over heat or you will ruin the case. After you anneal the case try to resize it and see if it will fit your chamber, If it does not fit try putting a .003-.004" feeler gauge under the case between the case head and the shellholder just dont forget to remove the decapping rod so you dont ruin your feeler gauge. I have had to do this with cases fired in a M2HB machine gun to get them to fit my Steyr. Earthquake
  14. 50 calchas I wish I knew how those were cut, like shadowfrog said they are some of the best I have seen. I'm going to see if I can cut a AP on the waterjet machine Where I work, it will cut soild tunstung carbide with enough time Earthquake
